It seems like just when you get in the groove of summer it is fall. This summer in particular just flew by. Maybe it was the late start, maybe it was the rain, but in an instant it was Labor Day and Copper Country. Four days after the show I was in the operating room sewing back together my left shoulder.
There is nothing like surgery to create pause in your life. My shoulder has been injured for years - over two, in fact. I set aside all those things I wanted to do but never had time to do for just this occasion. Exciting things, like re-writing the employee handbook, a new procedure's manual, putting together a list of all of my vendors along with phone numbers, logins, and passwords. And, yes, I did read that you should never write down your logins and passcodes, but then I'd never remember them and with them written I only have to remember where I put the piece of paper they are written on!
Another thing I've saved to do this fall is write. Write down my thoughts of the past, my hopes for the future. Write about the way my dog runs in his sleep chasing squirrels and how that wakes my other dog who just stares at his brother wondering what in the heck he is doing. Write about the injustices of the world and hope. I've saved this time for me. It seems odd to tell my readers and those that are visiting my business website that I'm taking time for me. But then, what is massage if it is not taking some time for yourself?
When I opened Summit Massage & Wellness Studio I envisioned a place where people would come to feel better, get better, relax, de-stress, work out the kinks and swap stories from the mountain. I put "wellness" into the title on purpose.
Someone once said to me that the reason they liked coming to our studio was because the therapists looked the part - they looked like they take care of themselves. This fall is my turn. I want to be 110% this winter for my clients. My heart and soul is in Summit Massage & Wellness Studio. We had an incredible first year and have a great staff of therapists that are available this fall.
Take time this fall for you. See you in the winter!
